The different types of fire extinguishers and their uses

Class A Fires – Combustible Materials

Class B Fires – Flammable Liquid

Flammable gases

Class D Fires – Combustible Metals

Electrical Fires – Electrical Equipment

Class F Fires – Cooking Oils

Class B extinguishers

List of fire extinguisher types and uses:

ABC Dry Powder -

Primarily used on Class A, B, and C fires. This element is usually a mixture of monoammonium phosphate and ammonium sulfate. This fire extinguisher is applicable to fire areas such as gasoline combustion, warehouses, gas stations, construction sites and electrical equipment rooms.

Carbon dioxide-based -

Charged with non-flammable carbon dioxide gas at high pressure. These fire extinguishers CO2 are commonly used in laboratories, mechanical rooms, kitchens or areas where flammable liquids are stored.

Clean Agent -

This is clean, residue-free, eco-friendly equipment suitable for industrial fields containing electronic products such as computers and machines. Clean agent fire extinguishers typically use inert gases or chemicals that are stored in a container and dispersed into the air. A fire has been detected. This type of fire extinguisher is applicable to museums, libraries, communication centers and server rooms.

Mechanical Foam –

Useful on fires such as oil, petroleum, solvents, grease, paint, etc. Fire extinguishers use blanketing and cooling effects to extinguish fires. The device is equipped with a special cap and has a controlled mechanism.

Modular Automatic -

Uses sprinkler technology to extinguish fire outbreaks. The fire extinguisher comes with an airtight nozzle system. The nozzle is activated when the surrounding environment exceeds a critical temperature range. Modular automatic fire extinguishers are mainly used in vehicle engines, computer areas, server rooms, electrical panels, etc.

Trolley Mounted –

Larger capacity fire extinguishers are typically trolley mounted. The equipment is mounted on a trolley and is heavy so it can be easily moved. This type of fire extinguisher is suitable for extinguishing fires involving gasoline, oil, paint, chemicals, etc.

Water Mist –

Discharges clean, deionized water through the nozzle spray outlet. This mist layer is non-conductive and non-toxic, so it extinguishes fires without damaging the surrounding space.
